Foxton Parish Council - Village speeding initiative

May 2020.

Following concerns raised by Parishioners, the Foxton Parish Council has purchased a speed monitoring sign.

This sign achieves two goals for us:

  • First, it shows drivers their speed and is an immediate reminder of speed limits in the village.
  • Second, it collects rudimentary data on the day, time and speed of a vehicle.

The data will help us build a case of evidence to 'Highways' if we feel it necessary to ask for further measures to reduce speeding in our village.

The sign is mobile and will be moved around the village in order for us to collect data samples from specific locations or 'hot spots' where it is believed that we have a speeding issue. There are in total four locations (which have been advised by LCC Highways dept) and they will be tested over the coming months.

Volunteers needed!

Foxton Parish Council is looking for volunteers to help with this initiative. For example, replacing batteries. If you want to help please send a message to us via the contact form HERE
